Combining behavioural science theory and community participation to inform financial incentives in smoking cessation services
with Dr Frank Doyle
Professor Frank Doyle is Associate Professor in Psychology in RCSI. He coordinates and teaches behavioural sciences and statistics to health professionals at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has held a number of Editorial roles, including Joint Editor-in-Chief of Health Psychology and Behavioural Medicine (2016-2022). His wide-ranging research interests include depression, psychometrics, tobacco and complex interventions and he has published over 140 peer-reviewed articles in these areas. He currently leads several research projects, including the HRB-funded COMPASS (https://compass-study.eu/) and TRAUMA (https://traumastudy.eu/) projects, the VAP-INTERVENE (https://vape-research.eu/) study funded by the HSE, and is a co-investigator on the EU-funded ESCAPE study (https://escape-project.org/). Professor Doyle was Chair of the Division of Health Psychology from 2013-2015, and 2017-2018, and is a Fellow of the Psychological Society of Ireland since 2019. He was elected as a Fellow of the European Health Psychology Society in 2022. The methods and preliminary results of the COMPASS study (COMmunity PArticipation to set direction on design and implementation of financial incentives in Stop Smoking services in Ireland) will be the focus of this talk.
